Scholarships
One objective of the Kentucky Aviation Historical Society is the encouragement and support of education in aviation. KYAHS has a program to provide scholarships to graduating high school students
who plan to pursue a college education in aviation.
The first such "John Day Scholarship" was awarded to Mr. Tim Hasty in April, 2009. Mr. Hasty is a 2009 graduate of the Shawnee Aviation Magnet Program in which he earned his Private Pilot license.
Tim is currently in college preparing for a career in aviation and is in the Air Force ROTC. His goal is to fly in the Air Force.

In the spring of 2010, the second scholarship was awarded to Mr Anthony Allen in the name of Will Parris. The picture to the bottom right shows the winner with Charles Lynn, President Don McLaughlin, and Vice-President Terry Bickel. Mr Allen graduated from the Shawnee Aviation program in 2010 with a pilot’s license and is now attending college with plans of pursuing a career in aviation.
Fund-raising for the scholarship program is an ongoing, year-round endeavor. The goal is to increase the size and the number of scholarships awarded each year.
